Macomb County to recognize residents aged 100 and above at second annual Centenarian Celebration

Macomb County Senior Services will host the second annual Centenarian Celebration, an event dedicated to honoring the remarkable individuals who have reached the incredible milestone of turning 100-years-old in Macomb County. This special occasion will take place on June 21, to celebrate the lives and achievements of these extraordinary centenarians.

"Here in Macomb County, we want to show our appreciation to our seniors who have reached this impressive milestone,” said Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel. “We look forward to celebrating their lives and sharing stories with each of them as they are a living testament to the rich history and vibrant spirit of Macomb County."

The celebration, organized by Macomb County Senior Services along with the Office of the County Executive, aims to recognize the invaluable contributions made by our county's oldest residents. Through their wisdom, experiences and resilience, these remarkable individuals have played an instrumental role in shaping the fabric of the community. This event serves as a tribute to their longevity, perseverance and the profound impact they have had on society.

"This is one of my favorite events for older adults,” said Office of Senior Services Director Sheila Cote'. “It is a way to celebrate the lives of individuals who have contributed so much to our community. Hearing their stories and words of wisdom is heartwarming. The event gives us the opportunity to listen, learn and honor those who have experienced so much."

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel along with the Macomb County Office of Senior Services would like to celebrate these distinguished individuals aged 100 and up and they will be invited, alongside a guest, for coffee and conversation. They will also receive a small gift and an honorary certificate.

Individuals interested in being recognized can fill out this form. They will be contacted by the County with a formal invitation that will note the event’s location.

Questions about the program can be directed to the Macomb County Office of Senior Services at 586-469-5228 or at seniors@macombgov.org.
